Centre for Advance Islamic Economics (CAIE) participated in Global Forum on Islamic Finance being organized by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Lahore, Pakistan on March,08-09, 2016.

CAIE Management Team

The Centre is working under the surpervision of the following reputed Islamic Shariah Scholars as under:

  • Mufti Muhammad Ifitkhar Baig, Graduate of prestigious Darul Aloom, Karachi, Pakistan and is the student of renowned Shariah Scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. He has ten years of practical experience as Shariah Advisor for Prime Commercial Bank Limited, Royal Bank of Scotland, Al-Baraka Islamic Bank Pakistan Limited and The Bank of Punjab(Islamic Banking Division).
    He has completed three years specialization course in Iftaa and Fiqh after qualifying eight years Alimiyah course. He is also a Law graduate and preparing for his PhD thesis on the subject “Sharia’h Compliant Solution regarding foreign Trade”.
    He is also serving at Jamia Zaineb as Mufti and lecturer and also associated with Hailey College of Commerce as lecturer. He is teaching Islamic Fiqh and Islamic Economics for many years and known as renowned speaker in religious circles.
    He has delivered lectures on many forums relating to Islamic Banking and Islamic Economies.
    His teachers include respected Islamic Scholars such Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani.
    He assisted Mufti Taqi Usmani in his research and religious assignment on the famous “Historic Judgement on Riba” verdict announced by the Federal Shariah Court of Pakistan.

  • Mufti Mahmood Ahmad, Graduate of prestigious Darul Aloom, Karachi, Pakistan and is the student of renowned Shariah Scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani.
    Mufti Mahmood is also the Shariah Advisor of Farz Foundation, the first Islamic Micro Finance Institution of Pakistan. He is also the Head of prestigious Jamia Ashrafia(one of the leading Islamic Educational Institution since 1933) online Fatwa Division.
    He has compiled the works on Islamic Finance/banking & Economics titled “Islam Aur Jadeed Maashie Masail (Modern Problems and Solutions of Islamic Economics)” by Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani.
    His teachers include respected Islamic Scholars such Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani and Maulana Sarfraz Khan Safdar.

  • Mufti Muhammad Khalid Burhan,

    Religious Education:
    Completed one year course in “ISLAMIC BANKING & BUSINESS” from CENTRE FOR ISLAMIC & MODERN SCIENCES Gulshan Block Allama Iqbal Town Lahore in 2009.

    Completed two year “MUFTI” (shahada Takhasus) course with distinction (3rd in class) securing 86% marks from JAMIA TUL HAMEED Raiwind Road Lahore in 2007.

    Completed “TARJUMA/TAFSEER AL-QURAN” course obtaining 98.3% marks from DARUL ULOOM MADNIA Rasool Park Multan Road Lahore in 2006.

    Completed “AALIM” (Shahada Aalmia) course with 85.5% marks from JAMIA ASHARFIA Ferozepur Road Lahore in 2005.

    NIBAS certification from State Bank of Pakistan.

    Graduation in ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (1980): From The Institution of Engineers Pakistan. (Equivalent to BSc. Engineering Recognized by the Government of Pakistan).

  • Mufti Salman Ahmad Khan, Graduate of prestigious Darul Aloom, Karachi, Pakistan and is the student of renowned Shariah Scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. His other teachers include include respected Islamic Scholars such Mufti –e- Azam Pakistan Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Mahmood Ashraf Usmani and Mufti Abdul Rauf Sukkarvee.

     
    • Since 2008 he has gained valuable experience as Shariah Advisor for various financial institutions. At present, he is associated with IBL modaraba Limited as Shariah Advisor.
    • Shariah Advisor for Centre for Women Cooperative Development(CWCD) and has gained first hand experience of islamic modes of financing such as Diminishing Musharakah, Salam, Istisna, Murabaha, and Ijarah at micro finance level. CWCD has 26 branches in different cities of Pakistan and head office in Lahore.
    • Shariah consultancy experience with Centre for Islamic Research Analysis Accreditation and Training (CIRAAT).
    • He is enrolled for PhD in Islamic studies with The University of Punjab and has submitted thesis on “ Use of Participatory Modes of Financing in Islamic banking: perspective of Islamic Fiqh”.
    • He has completed M-Phil from The University of Punjab and Master of Arts in Islamic studies from Bahauddin Zakariyya University.

  • Mr. Sajjad Rafiq Mir,

    He brings with him thirty three years of banking experience including ten years proven and practical exposure in Islamic Banking with MCB Bank. He did his BBA (Hons.) & MBA from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi in 1981 & 1982 respectively and also did his MPhil in Islamic Banking & Finance in 2015 from Univeristy of Management & Technology, Lahore. He is also an Adjunct Faculty Member as Asstt. Prof. at Imperial College of Business Studies. He retired as EVP from MCB Bank in 2015. During his Banking career he has worked in the following areas:

    - Research & Planning Division - Preparation of Economic Data and Industry Data for use by the higher management of the Bank.

    - Small Loans and Agriculture Credit

    – As Financial Analyst, to check the viability of the projects being financed under Small Loans Scheme of State Bank of Pakistan, Small Scale Industries (SSI) Loans under IDA Credits and Agriculture Loan Scheme. Provided on the job training to the field Officers. Became the Head of SSI Deptt. of the Bank at the Head Office.

    - Industrial Credit Division/Investment Banking - Prepared feasibility reports of project financing done by the Bank under IBRD lines of Credit for Large Industries. Attended a two months extensive course on "Project Management" at Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute, Boston, USA. - Chief Manager of four large Corporate Branches in Lahore and Faisalabad to provide excellent services to Corporate Clientle of the Bank including deposits generation, Corporate deals with clients, marketing of trade finance services. - Corporate Head of Faisalabad Region of the Bank for a year. - Business Head North of MCB Islamic Banking to look after the Islamic Business extending from Peshawar to Multan. The job involved establishment of new Branches in different cities along with generation of business on the liability, assets and trade finance side.

  • Mohammad Raza Ali Sheikh, brings with him diverse banking experience of conventional, Islamic and Investment Banking. He holds an MBA degree and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), U.K. He has extensive marketing experience of financial services and was involved in developing strategies for building corporate images. His association with Meezan Bank Limited has helped him to gain extensive practical knowledge & experience of various Islamic Banking Products & Services and conducted numerous training workshops, seminars, etc. on a wide range of topics including Islamic Banking. He is also a Certified Islamic Banking Trainer and has taught at university level.
    He has strong command our Shariah related financial issues and member of a research team dedicated to develop Islamic Trade guidelines. He has proved to be a great source of inspiration for the entire CAIE Team. He is a dedicated and motivated individual aiming to play his due role in the promotion of Islamic Financial Industry.

  • Mohammad Amin Anjum, is a young IT professional with a great promise for IT related field. He is our Head of IT and has professional experience to manage IT affairs with ease. He has expertise in Application Development, Websites Development, Network Configuration & Management and worked in different environments. He has the ability to thrive in a fast moving, changing environment and fully capable to adjust in any working atmosphere within a short span of time.
    He also has dependable working knowledge of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), C-Voice, Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), Linux System Administration, Voice Communications Server Using Asterisk, Fiber Optics Network Training and Wireless Network Training.
    He hold Bachelor of Sciences in Computer Engineering from the reputed COMSTAS Institue of IT and is registered as Professional Engineer with Pakistan Engineering council, Islamabad.
